Executives

  • Bradley Smith

    Brad is a co-founder of BusinessOptics and heads up solution design. He has a BBusSci (Hons) in Actuarial Science, Statistics and Computer Science as well as a master's degree in the applications of machine learning techniques to risk management. He previously worked in the insurance industry, building and deploying web-based ERP systems for insurance companies across Africa

  • James Saunders

    James is a co-founder and CTO of BusinessOptics. He holds a BSc (Hons) in the Mathematics of Computer Science from UCT. He has developed automated control-system design software for the world's largest oil refinery project at the time and has experience in computer vision and security, mobile auditing, robotics and developing financial and environmental planning systems.

  • Murray Kuiper

    Murray is the COO of BusinessOptics and has strong financial and operational experience serving his articles as a Chartered Accountant at Ernst and Young in 2009 and completing the CFA programme in 2015. He has extensive experience implementing operational improvements in private equity.

Board Members

  • Richard Came

    Richard is an entrepreneur who has been active in the South African and international market since the 1980′s. One of his more notable ventures include co-founding Dimension Data, exiting to NTT for €2.90bn. He is has also been an early shareholder and director at Dark Fibre Africa, Vumatel, Hymax (acquired by EOH), Tradebridge, Touchsides (acquired by Heineken) and Aerobotics.

  • Peter Hird

    Peter originally trained as a lawyer and began his career in IT at Dimension Data in 1988 through his appointment as General Manager. He later served as President of Dimension Data's United States operations before returning home to fulfil the role of chairman of the board of Dimension Data South Africa. In 2007, Peter resigned from Dimension Data and has since been involved in an advisory capacity with a number of start-up businesses.
